We are looking for a Vice President of Engineering for Thales Defense & Security, Inc(TDSI).  This role will have overall responsibility for approximately 350 employees over four locations. The position is a member of senior staff and reports directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

 

  • Provides technical and managerial leadership for the entire engineering department.
  • Serves on the executive team at TDSI and work closely to align engineering efforts with overall company goals.
  • Responsible and accountable for developing and achieving strategic business plan objectives and initiatives for the engineering department.
  • Ensures engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with TDSI’s established policies and objectives.
  • Responsible for helping to develop and support company values, vision, and culture while maintaining a high ethical standard of practice including compliance with all company procedures


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's operating policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; effectives staff plans - assigning and directing work; performance appraisals, rewarding and providing for employee discipline when required; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Active mentoring and development of staff is a critical element of the supervisory responsibilities in order to create a high performing cohesive team.

 

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship required - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information upon hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSEE/BSCE/BSME/BSCS) or equivalent work experience.
  • 6-10 years of experience as an Engineering Director to include managing multi-function engineering teams in DoD environment.
  • Experience working with TDSI or similar technologies and products in demanding DoD market.
  • Experience running an engineering team in compliance with CMMI Level 3 and AS9100 processes.
  • Ability to foster teamwork across different functional areas within Thales Defense & Security, Inc. and other Thales entities.  
  • Proven leadership with ability to effectively create and execute to workforce plans to meet objectives and business strategic goals.
  • This role requires periodic domestic travel.
