Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

: Lemont Furnace, PA (Uniontown area)   

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities: 
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing tasks as directed which includes the following but is not limited to these tasks:

  • Involved with the design, fabrication and modification of mechanical and/or electro mechanical components, sub-systems and systems
  • May include Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, Mechanical Packaging, or others
  • Evaluates and recommends design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services
  • Investigates solutions to product or process problems
  • Responsible for leading group of engineers on a technical activity and completion of activity on time and budget
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
  • Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Participates in preparation of proposals
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Lead and direct the work of others as assigned
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
  • Lead less-experienced engineers

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship required. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME, BSMET, or BSEMET)
  • 2 to 8 years of electrical engineering experience (position may be filled at less than the senior level)
  • Fluency in technologies and application domain
  • Ability to lead a technical group independently
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain the appropriate level of government issued security clearance and/or access
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Technical knowledge of engineering documents including engineering drawings, parts lists, and bills of material
  • Must possess proficient problem-solving skills at both system and component levels
  • Experience with hydraulics
  • Experience with hands-on mechanical assembly and installation of heavy equipment using a crane

Additional Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Performed structural analysis using Computer Aided Design and Model Driven Design Analysis tools such as ANSYS Multiphysics and SOLIDWORKS.
  • Developed fluid dynamic models using Computer Aided Design and Model Driven Design Analysis tools such as ANSYS Multiphysics and SOLIDWORKS.
  • Developed analytical models of mechanical systems using tools such as MATLAB and Mathcad.
  • Performed shock and vibration analysis using Computer Aid Design and Model Driven Design Analysis tools such as ANSYS Multiphysics and SOLIDWORKS.
  • Experience with thermal design and analysis
  • Strong electrical aptitude
  • Good interpersonal communication skills 

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting up to 20 lbs. up to 25% of time
  • Walking up to 25% of time
  • Climbing, Bending, Standing, Stooping up to 10% of time
  • Sitting up to 75% of time
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of time to locations in the continental United States and internationally
