    Thales Visionix (TVI) a leading innovator in helmet mounted display technology has an opening for an experienced Program Manager (PM) in our Aurora, IL office to support development programs in the military market.

     

    This position will report to the Director of Program Management and requires close coordination with other departments including Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Finance, Business Development, and Contracts.  This position requires presentation of program health and status to Senior Management at both Thales Visionix and Thales Defense and Security, Inc. Coordination with Thales Group offices in other countries may also be required to successfully execute joint programs.

    Responsibilities

    • Management of multiple assigned programs, to achieve contractual and financial objectives through the program lifecycle.
    • Provision of timely reporting to senior leadership with details on program status and performance.
    • Conduct regular cross-functional meetings to review status towards objectives and identify issues early in the program.
    • Responsible for customer communication and satisfaction, including follow-on business quotes and proposals.
    • Ensure compliance with all TVI program management processes and procedures, including development of program plans, task definitions, schedules, budgets, resource requirements and risk management on all assigned programs.
    • Responsible for ensuring significant risks of all TVI Program (i.e. meeting the schedule, cost overrun, etc.) are communicated to management with identified mitigation and contingency plans.
    • As identified, responsible as capture lead for specific proposal efforts and supporting other proposal efforts with budget and schedule information.
    • Responsible for ensuring coordination of activities with subcontractors, vendors and suppliers as necessary to support assigned programs.
    • Responsible for ensuring effective TVI scope directions from the customer and suppliers are appropriately processed through the contract.
    • Identify contract requirements and coordinate activities of internal organizations and individual program team members assigned to the contract.
    • Coordinate and foster proper communication between the customer and the program team.
    • Identify and acquire additional scope on ongoing programs.
    • Maintain and monitor progress against monthly revenue forecasts.
    • By example sets the standards that embody the TDSI Core Values & Thales Leadership Model.
    • Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Candidate MUST be U.S. citizen.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Security Clearance.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related technical field or equivalent industry experience.
    • The candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in managing programs in the commercial avionics and/or defense aerospace sector.
    • Experience with avionics modification programs for either fixed and/or rotary wing is desired.
    • US government contracting experience desired with excellent understanding of required processes for reporting through major defense contractors.
    • Experience in managing development programs for complex systems including management of requirement uncertainty and development risks.
    • EVMS experience strongly desired.
    • PMP certification desired.
    • Management of technical and financial risks and conduct of technical reviews
    • Basic accounting and financial knowledge and profit-oriented business sense as well as effective negotiating skills.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with employees in all departments and functions.
    • Excellent organizational skills and work ethic.
    • Experience working in a multicultural environment a plus.

    • Computer proficiency required and experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent.
    • Qualified candidates must have excellent written and verbal communications skills with experience managing small teams, working effectively in a matrix team structure, setting business growth objectives and achieving results.
    • Strong technical background with good understanding of marketing, strategic planning, business and market development, customer and product marketing.
    • This position involves some domestic and international travel.
