    We currently have an opening in our Aurora, IL office for an Engineering Project Manager.  This position will be responsible for performing day-to-day coordination of Engineering Teams as they perform technical and documentation tasks in support of assigned projects and/or programs.  This position reports to the Director of Engineering.


    • Partner with Program Manager(s) to ensure that deliverables are managed and executed to plan.
    • Coordinate Thales internal technical planning and scheduling for design, integration, test and verification for assigned programs.
    • Ensure engineering deliverables are complete and timely.
    • Prepare Engineering Metrics reports in accordance with the contract utilizing Thales authorized tools or tools required by the contract.
    • Effectively manage technical risks to program and proactively manage and mitigate these risks.
    • Prepare program cost estimates; provide engineering input to program financial performance.
    • Support the development of subcontract SOW and Work Packages.
    • Support Thales engineering management in their efforts provide technical leadership and mentoring to the program team.
    • Anticipate and coordinate staffing needs with Engineering and Program Managers.
    • Work with customers, Thales technical teams and subcontractors to negotiate achievable schedules that satisfy customer requirements and Thales budget.  
    • Effectively manage and support Master Schedule creation and maintenance.
    • Responsibility for budget, schedule, and technical performance of Government, Prime Contractor, and/or Internal Research & Development programs. 
    • Ability to run multiple programs simultaneously.
    • Works with customers in negotiating contracts, change orders, program issues, and also identifying new opportunities.
    • Conduct project planning activities during all phases of the program.
    • Reconcile overages on programs of responsibility.
    • Participate in monthly close, periodic forecasting exercises, and annual budgeting process as required.
    • Track program/project against its schedule and budget, and against phase review objectives.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with external and internal customers.
    • Review, analyze, and comment on engineering documents and design data, as required.
    • Review, analyze, and interpret the technical and administrative requirements contained in requests for proposal (RFP), requests for quotation (RFQ), requests for information (RFI), information for bid (IFB), etc., to generate material used in preparation of formal proposal responses.
    • Ability to understand customer needs, act with agility and strive to improve processes.
    • Coordinate with customer to provide necessary program status and obtain customer feedback.
    • Capable of autonomous, self-driven work; takes ownership of assigned projects and works through issues and solutions/answers with minimal oversight.
    • Support formulation of proposal financial bids.
    • Demonstrate support for company values and vision and embrace TDSI Core Values.
    • Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures.


    • Candidate MUST be a U.S. citizen.  The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
    • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Software Engineering or related technical field. Advanced technical degree a plus.
    • PMP Certification a plus.
    • Aerospace/defense OEM experience strongly preferred.
    • 2+ years planning and managing progress of technical projects that include engineering development teams.
    • Experience with formal ERP financial systems (PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP) a plus.
    • Excellent organizational skills and work ethic
    • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
    • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with employees in all departments and functions
    • Computer proficiency required and experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent
    • Up to 20% travel required.
