    Tampa Microwave LLC, a subsidiary of Thales Defense and Security Incorporated designs, manufactures and supports a family of parabolic dish and flat panel antenna SATCOM terminals for use by DoD, Government Agency and foreign allied countries.   

           

    We currently have an opening in our Tampa office for an experienced Program Manager. This position reports directly to the VP/ General Manager of Tampa Microwave.

    Responsibilities

    The role of the Program Manager (PM) is a combination of project management, resource management, contract management, and business development. The PM is the single point of contact within the company for assigned programs. He/She has the responsibility for the cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned programs.

     

    The PM will provide strategic guidance to teams in ways that promote the company’s culture. He/She will oversee the progress product development for assigned programs, manufacturing of those products, post-delivery support of those products and the maintenance of good relationships with the customer’s team of professionals. The PM will operate both onsite with the program team located Tampa and at various customer locations to assist in capture, maintenance, growth, and retention of major customer accounts.

     

    The PM will ensure all program requirements and action items are tracked and answered without exception. The PM must be able to adjust to shifting program priorities, demands and timelines while under pressure by utilizing his analytical and problem-solving capabilities. The PM will utilize common business tools such as Sales Force and MS Project to manage all necessary activities.

    Additional position requirements include:

     

    • Develop and implement strategies to increase program revenue and profitability throughout the life of the contract
    • Develop and implement strategies to retain assigned programs subject to follow-on competitions
    • Formulate, organize and monitor inter-connected projects across multiple complex customers
    • Develop, implement and adjust Program schedules to meet customer expectations. Identify resource shortfalls and areas of performance risk. Assist senior leadership in mitigating these issues.
    • Develop, implement and manage financial metrics to monitor and improved program profitability
    • Initiate and report on change, risk and resource management in assigned programs
    • Exert influence to improve performance from assigned internal resources, other TM departments and the TM supply chain providing material for assigned programs.
    • Prepare Program status reports for internal and external use

    Qualifications

    • Candidate MUST be U.S. citizen or designated as a lawful permanent US resident.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Security Clearance
    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience.
    • Graduate degree in Business Administration or Engineering and/or advanced courses in management, engineering or science subject is desirable.
    • Professional certification in Program Management required
    • The candidate will possess a minimum of eight years’ experience as a DoD Program Manager (PM) for a hardware OEM.
    • A previous position with Profit and Loss responsibility is desirable.
    • Experience as a PM managing USSOCOM and/or US Army contracts is mandatory.
    • The ideal candidate will possess the ability to motivate and lead a staff of matrixed human resources in accomplishing the program goals.
    • The PM will develop efficient strategies and tactics designed to meet or exceed all program requirements for cost, schedule and technical performance while growing the contract scope through opportunistic change proposals.
    • Direct supervisory experience with technical personnel desired.
    • Must be fluent with Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
    • The candidate must understand project/program management and risk management techniques and methods.
    • Excellent, proven communication and complex problem-solving skills across programmatic, contractual, financial and technical disciplines is required.
    • Must be able to travel to meet the requirements of position – estimated travel is less than 50%.
