    Thales Defense & Security, Inc. is currently seeking a Systems Administrator to work in our Clarksburg, Maryland Campus. This position reports to the IT Operations Manager.


    We are looking for a flexible Systems Administrator (SA) who can multitask. This team member will collaborate openly and has proficient oral and written communications skills. The Systems Administrator will be working on server deployment and maintenance, storage management, VM management, backup management, and technology troubleshooting.

    The SA is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and related infrastructure. As an SA, you will maintain both Windows and Virtual systems. You will also provide user support and lead troubleshooting efforts. You will research and recommend creative methods for system administrative tasks:

    • The candidate will maintain platform support for servers operating Windows Server 2008 R2, Server 2012, and Server 2016 software environment. Servers are both physical and VMWare.
    • Support Windows server services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs.
    • Provide design, development, administration, troubleshooting, documentation, security, debugging and implementation of the hardware, operating system, and application software of Windows 2008 R2, 2012 servers, and 2016 Servers.
    • Provide set up and support of VMWare hosts and maintain servers running on the hosts.
    • Provide support with other team members to develop an overarching architectural plan for the data center.
    • Responsible for the configuration and management of the storage systems.
    • Increase day-to-day operational efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts.
    • Provides technical support for the Storage and Backup management and monitoring solutions, including CommVault Simpana.
    • Potential to work from home two days a week after probationary period.


    • Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.
    • 4 - 6 years of relative experience.
    • Experience with technical troubleshooting of user support issues, including Windows & VMware, and storage technologies.
    • Experience with server operations including Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016.
    • Knowledge of Storage technologies, data backup technologies and tape hardware architecture.
    • Experience in working with PowerShell, Power CLI, and Windows batch scripting.
    • Experience in automated deployments of OS images with VMware templates.
    • Experience managing Windows desktops though GPO.
    • Experience utilizing a ticketing system.
    • Experience working with government security standards across the computer infrastructure.
    • Working knowledge of networking principles.
    • Ability to work Nights and weekends as needed.
    • Ability to lift 60 lbs.
    • Experience with project management a plus.
    • Experience with NetApp operation and maintenance a plus.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology a plus.
    • Working knowledge of firewalls, switches, etc. a plus.
