    Thales Defense & Security, Inc. is currently seeking a Trade Compliance Analyst to work in our Clarksburg, Maryland Campus. This position reports to Sr. Manager of Trade Compliance.


     

    Responsibilities

    The Trade Compliance Group provides internal organizations ensuring compliance with U.S and International import / export laws and regulations. These laws include: the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR); Export Administration Regulations (EAR); Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC); Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATFE); U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR). Primary responsibilities will include:

    •  Processing of daily export and import operational transactions, including HTS & ECCN classification requests; updating and releasing orders with applicable license information; and expediting release of shipments on Customs-hold. 
    • Manage, maintain, and issue applicable documentation and provide instruction to comply with Federal regulations and country requirements, such as proforma invoices for letters of credit, import licenses and pre-shipment inspections. Review documentation for accuracy and approve and code vendor bills. 
    • Support Month End and Quarter-End corporate needs and goals. Monitor Trade Compliance shared mailboxes and action incoming requests as appropriate.
    • Identify and escalate Red Flags related to any proposed export or import Execute due diligence procedures including restricted party screening, anti-boycott, anti-bribery and embargoes, identifying, addressing and escalating red flags as required.
    • Coordinate International Logistics activities with Travel, Customer Service, Freight Forwarders, BD, US and Foreign Customs, Freight Forwarders and Compliance to meet BDs international efforts for temporary exports/imports of hardware, technical data and defense services associated with international opportunities.
    • The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment involving frequent interaction with Shipping, Purchasing, Marketing and Sales personnel, Product Managers, Engineers, Freight Forwarders and be able to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
    • Conduct Trade Compliance Audits

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in business, international affairs, law or engineering (preferred)
    • 3- 5 years of relative experience of relevant experience with trade compliance laws, regulations and operations;
    • Experience working with defense companies with demonstrated working knowledge of ITAR/EAR regulations including familiarity with available exemptions.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; OCR EASE and Visual Compliance a plus.
    • Experience in Dangerous Goods
    • Experience conducting Trade Compliance audits.
    • Attention to detail
