    We currently have an opening in our Clarksburg, MD office for an experienced Supply Chain Manager. This position reports directly to the VP of Operations.


    Purchasing/Cost/Inventory Management

    • Work with management and plants to identify cost negotiation and pricing opportunities for margin improvement.
    • Consider vendor/product consolidation opportunities between the company’s facilities.
    • Work with the Planner/Buyer/Scheduler, Purchasing Specialist  to determine optimal order quantities, based on cost, carrying time, and customer responsibility for inventory.
    • Communicate with other departments regarding pricing changes, new product developments and the availability of material and supplies. Negotiate prices as appropriate.
    • Monitor and evaluate Planner Buyers’ ability to effectively determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
    • Oversee any large procurement that may happen, including manufacturing equipment. Assist with negotiations.

    Vendor Management

    • Assess vendor capabilities, develop alternate sources (considering both cost, supply and risk mitigation factors) and evaluate vendor performance.
    • Manage suppliers to resolve performance issues having an impact on costs, customer service or inventory.
    • Manage and partner with subcontractors effectively.
    • Develop supplier performance metrics, evaluate results, and work with suppliers to improve their performance


    • Establish department practices, procedures and strategies, and working with the CFO, establish and maintain purchasing authorization levels.
    • Ensure that purchasing documents are properly completed.
    • Managing any SLA’s (Service Level Agreements) that may be in place and managing any Master Agreements between the suppliers and the company.
    • Analyze market, stay informed on market conditions; recommend major purchases of materials and supplies based on anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations.
    • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
    • Work to assure effective utilization of Company’s MRP / vendor management software systems.
    • Manages PPV (Purchase Price Variance).
    • Exercise EOQ (Economic Order Quantity).

    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    Provides leadership for the Purchasing Department. This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's operating policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include ensuring staff is performing to expectations, interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; preparing performance appraisals, rewarding and providing for employee discipline when required; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Active mentoring and development of staff is critical element of the supervisory responsibilities.


    • US Citizenship Required
    • Minimum 2 years of experience as purchasing manager, with minimum 5 years purchasing in a government contracting/manufacturing environment.
    • 2+ years superviosry experience
    • BS/BA degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration.
    • CPPM / APICS certification or equivalent preferred.
    • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management in the plastics/rubber/silicone industry preferred.
    • Strong MRP / Vendor management software experience.
    • Negotiation and networking experience.
    • Ability to gather and analyze data along with working with figures.
    • International purchasing experience a plus.
    • Experience in a multi-plant environment a plus.
    • Working understanding of ISO standards (preferably 13485).
    • Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools a plus.
    • Previous experience/basic understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial information.
    • Travel requirements up to 15%.
