    Thales Visionix in Aurora IL is seeking a full time Principal Systems Engineer.


    • Travel up to 50% of time
    • Responsible for the integration and sub-contract management of a number of elements within the electro-optical system being developed for the aerospace industry.
    • This person will be exposed to a variety of technologically demanding areas within the aerospace sector.
    • Required to perform systems integration, verification and validation, technical planning, cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for helmet mounted display systems and avionics.
    • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation and operation. Performs functional analysis, time-line analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
    • Opportunities to make technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an impact on achieving corporate goals.
    • Provide technical consultation for solving tough design issues in HMD, Crash and Ejection safety analysis and tests.
    • Provide technical support, inspiration, and leadership to junior engineers.
    • Provide technical counsel to engineering management.


    • US Citizenship with ability to obtain a security clearance.
    • 8+ years as a design engineer
    • Working knowledge of DO-254, DO-160 and DO-178.
    • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810
    •  Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    •  Possesses an essential knowledge of Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) products and technology.
    • Must be capable of working independently on assigned task. Must have excellent written, oral, and communication skills.
    • Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

    This position requires substantial domestic and international travel (~50%)
