We currently have an opening in our Clarksburg, MD office for a Business Development Manager. This position designs, leads and implements the strategic business capture plan for the US Army & USSOCOM initiatives under Thales Defense and Security, Inc. (TDSI). This position reports to the Director of Business Development.

Responsibilities

  • Supports/Lead (as appropriate) business development activities for a specified business lines segment.
  • Proactively interfaces with customers and partners to identify, qualifying and capture new business opportunities.
  • Identifies, evaluates and pursues partnerships, alliances and joint ventures where these will lead to new business.
  • Leads market analysis, monitors competitive intelligence and identifies customer needs within their respective business area.
  • Generate capture plans for strategically or financially significant opportunities.
  • Direct the updates to and review the opportunity forecast for their respective business areas on a regular basis.
  • Leads or contributes as assigned by the Director in the preparation of internal pursuit reviews and external proposals to include competitive assessments, customer hot buttons and win themes, price-to-win strategies, etc.
  • Market analysis, development of the marketing communications strategy.
  • Tradeshows/customer visit coordination and execution.
  • Interface with DOD program offices and/or Military Operations leadership to understand, shape and influence future requirements.
  • Lead multi-discipline teams in the pursuit of new business opportunities. 
  • Effect market penetration and growth with minimal supervision.
  • Domestic and International travel to support the SMS business.
  • By example, set the standards that embody the TDSI Core Value & Thales Leadership Model.
  • Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship and Secret Clearance required.  
  • Five years sales or BD experience within DoD market.
  • The successful candidate will have at least 5-10 years military tactical operational experience.
  • Five years’ experience with a multi-discipline defense manufacturer preferred.
  • Familiarity with MANET networks, radio waveform technology/market trends desired
  • Additional experience within USSOCOM and Intelligence programs desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or equivalent field.
  • Excellent organizational skills and work ethic.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with employees in all departments and functions.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and sales tracking systems required.
  • The BDM will have experience and knowledge in communications systems and their integration into C4ISR networks.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
