Thales Defense & Security, Inc. has an opening for a fixed term (90 days) full-time HR Assistant at our Clarksburg, Maryland Campus. This position is eligible for benefits and leave time.




  • Provide administrative and logistical support to HR Team.
  • Organize/maintain HR File Room and destroy documents according to retention policy.
  • Schedule interviews and conduct HR interviews for candidates.
  • Create offer letters and send out offer packages.
  • Schedule and coordinate on-site training and manage training records.
  • Create and send out department surveys.
  • Create and edit documents such letters, policies and employee newsletter.
  • Update HR & Employee Bulletin Boards
  • Plan, schedule & coordinate employee events (anniversary, all hands meetings, Rec Club events, etc.)
  • Track performance management activities (annual activity discussions, ratings, incentive compensation plans, merits, etc.)
  • Update HR SharePoint Site
  • Run and update HR reports
  • Assist with applicant tracking system.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable/Finance to ensure that HR invoices (drug testing, background check, agencies, training, etc.) are approved and paid.


  • US Citizenship is required for this position.
  • Qualified candidates must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive demeanor in order to interact with a variety of positions and levels within Thales as well as candidates and external contacts.
  • Keen problem solving skills – see a problem and create a solution
  • Effective multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Exercises solid judgment, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Exhibits teaming ability in executing tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • A self-motivated work ethic.
  • Bachelors in Human Resources or Related field preferred
  • 1-2 years working in Human Resources
  • PeopleSoft Experience Preferred
