Overview

The Optronics and Missile Electronics Sales Manager (OSM) leads the promotion, sale, training and support of Thales Optronics and Missile Electronics portfolio to secure new business within the US.

 

This position is part of the Sensors & Missile Systems (SMS) team under Thales Defense and Security Inc. (TDSI) and reports into the Director of SMS. As part of the team, the OSM will capture new business across the US in line with the SMS business plan, initiate/maintain strong customer relationships, develop capture plans, proposals and market analysis for area of responsibility.

 

The SMS business is primarily located in Totowa, NJ. However, the position may also be located in one of our other offices in Clarksburg, MD, Orlando, FL, Aurora, IL, or Billerica, MA.

Responsibilities

 

  • Key account management; build on existing relationships with major customers and government bodies and establish new relationships with other potential key customers to secure new business in line with TDSI strategy for the US
  • Effect market penetration and growth with minimal supervision
  • Product familiarization and excellent customer product support/sustainment
  • Serve as Capture Manager for key pursuits and/or campaigns
  • Formulation and support of RFI/RFP
  • Negotiate commercial and government agreements
  • Load sales pipeline with new opportunities and maintain order intake forecast
  • Perform market and competitive analysis to formulate basis of market strategy and positioning
  • Customer / conference visit coordination and execution, product briefing and demonstration
  • Perform as an integral member of the SMS team interacting on a regular basis with inter/intra-company disciplines – including engineering, contracts, programs management, manufacturing and customer service
  • Extensive domestic and international travel to support the SMS business
  • By example, set the standards that embody the TDSI Core Value & Thales Leadership Model
  • Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures.

Qualifications

 

  • US Citizenship and Secret Clearance required
  • The successful candidate will have at least 7 years of DOD industry experience with at least two years working with a multi-discipline defense/aerospace manufacturer
  • The OSM will have extensive knowledge of electro-optical sensors and systems, crew-served weapons and/or missile electronics.
  • Knowledge of USG acquisition process and practices
  • Experience working with US Army Program Office community
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or equivalent field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with employees in all departments and functions
  • Shipley Associates Capture Management and Federal Proposals certification preferred.
