Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) seeks an experienced Test Engineer for our Motion Tracking Augmented Reality business.


We are seeking a multi-talented Test Engineer to support development of features and functionality for our interesting Motion Tracking products. You will join a small group of product development engineers working with cutting edge motion tracking and display technologies. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, passionate about their work, and versatile enough in a test environment to work with multiple hardware and software products.


The Motion Tracking business is primarily located in Billerica, MA.



This individual is expected to be proficient or become proficient in the operation of Thales Visionix motion tracking products and those devices and equipment to which our products interface including: host computers with various operating systems, IP networked systems, wireless systems, and Head Mounted Display (HMD) technologies.   

  • Assist in analyzing system requirements and reviews technical product/project specifications to assess and evaluate overall test objectives, configurations, and criteria for the project. This may include product requirements such as hardware, software, documentation, licenses, etc.
  • Participate in the development of test plans, schedules and resource requirements.
    Perform test procedures, records test results and communicate ongoing progress and status.
  • Assist with the identification, analysis and documentation of issues, questionable functions, procedural problems, and inconsistencies in subsystem and system testing.
  • Apply understanding of principles of related engineering and software technology to ensure test validity and integrity.
  • Write technical reports and documentation.

  • Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures. 


  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field required
  • US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is required for this position.
  • 2+ years of experience testing complex software and systems.
  • Familiarity with C/C++, C#, Java or similar languages and the ability to understand and compile code.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Good technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of performing tasks of moderate complexity without supervision.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).



  • Experience with test management software such as TestRail.
  • Experience with issue tracking tools such as Mantis.
  • Experience with C/C++ development using Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse.
  • Experience with the Python language.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical principles
  • Some experience with Robotics or Virtual Reality.
