Overview

Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) seeks an experienced engineer to support our ALFS (Airborne Low Frequency Sonar) program, which is one of the major projects of the UWS Business Line (Under Water Systems) proposing solutions and services for anti-submarine warfare. We are looking for a well-rounded team member who is able to work directly with customers and other stakeholders with minimal supervisions.

 

The primary work location is in Clarksburg, MD. However, regular travel is required to customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Represent and provide technical support for ALFS subsets delivered to customer: Reeling Machine, Reeling Machine Interface Unit, Reeling Machine Control Unit, Reel & Cable, Transducer Assembly, Power modules for Sonar Transmitter Receiver.
  • Provide technical support to customer for integration and acceptation tests of ALFS systems at Customer sites: tests preparations, tests results analysis, investigations on failures, sub-systems adjustments, sub-systems upgrades, sub-systems repairs.
  • Coordination of Thales stakeholder’s technical interventions on sites: sub-systems upgrades, repairs, investigations on failures.
  • Management of the technical support team for ALFS tests at customer sites.
  • Interface between the customer and Brest ALFS teams for technical support.
  • Thales local representative for ALFS warranty issues: warranty reporting, first level interventions, claim follow-up, warranty spares.
  • Reporting on the ALFS activities on sites
  • Manage acceptation test of the system with customer at customer site.
  • Guarantee the correct use of the system during testing
  • Start investigation in case of failure / observation made, helped with experts from Brest
  • First point of contact with customer and USN during testing
  • Manage relationship with test team (customer, USN, subcontractors)
  • Find ways of possible improvement of the system by discussing with customer and USN
  • Provide necessary stakeholder reporting test activities, production support, system engineering, and program manager.
  • Provide details information of investigation/ observation
  • Perform as an integral member of the ALFS team interacting on a regular basis with inter/intra-company disciplines including engineering, contracts, programs management, manufacturing and customer service
  • Provide technical support and expertise on proposals and bid efforts
  • Some domestic and international travel

  • Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship      
  • Secret Clearance preferred or minimum ability to obtain such required.  
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent technology field
  • Knowledge of the ALFS sub-systems (WRA, SRA).
  • Knowledge of Thales TUS integration, tuning, test procedures for the interventions on sub-systems.
  • Ability for practical interventions on ALFS sub-systems.
  • Capability for analysing and reporting troubles on ALFS sub-systems.
  • Knowledge of TUS tools for technical data access and configuration management.
  • Excellent English Communication (oral and written) Skills
  • Availability for reactive actions towards the customer (multi-site).
  • Travel (domestic and international) required
