    Thales Visionix, Inc.     Our fast growing company is focused on augmented reality heads-up-display systems for consumer, medical and military industries, located in the Aurora, IL area is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer in our Electronics Engineering product design group. This is an immediate, full-time, permanent position that offers salary, healthcare benefits, a great working environment, and a talented team of experienced professionals.

    Responsibilities

    This is a responsible support position that directly interfaces with and proactively supports hardware engineering department. This position controls and is responsible for all day-to-day tasks associated with running our in-house prototyping group, and production transition and support activities including but not limited to: 

    • Electronic & mechanical assembly
    • Installs components, units and printed circuit boards following specifications
    • Troubleshoots electronic systems
    • Uses electronic, hand, power, and pneumatic tools
    • Customizes units and makes adjustments or repairs according to written specifications
    • Fabricates parts, cables, and test fixtures
    • Maintains all work related equipment, passive load, test fixtures, etc.
    • Maintains and writes work procedures and all related documentation for each task performed
    • Works closely with product managers to develop new products according to custom requirements.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate for this position will:

    • Be a BSEE or equivalent with good electronics background
    • Have 5+ years as a design engineer
    • US Citizenship is required for this position
    • Working experience with FPGA Design/Simulation
    • Working experience with Video and Image processing design using FPGAs is a must have
    • Working experience with Verilog/VHDL
    • Use of Altium Designer, Schematic capture, Subversion, Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer, Excel, & Word are required. Use of Windchill(PLM) a plus.
    • Must have solid working knowledge of PCB construction, and assembly techniques
    • Be a highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently as well as in group settings
    • Be well organized and able to multi-task
    • Have good verbal and written communications skills
    • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills
    • Experience using electronic test equipment
    • Be experienced and able to use hand tools and small power tools, soldering
    • Be able to read, understand, and create technical drawings, schematics, datasheets, and written work instructions.
